Shayla + Josh | New Year's Eve Wedding in Downtown Seattle, Washington

Shayla & Josh // New Year's Eve Wedding in Downtown Seattle, Washington

When Shayla and Josh contacted me about shooting their New Year's Eve wedding - I instantly had to say yes! Is there a better way to bring in the New Year other than a massive party celebrating love? I didn't think so either!

With the wedding being located in the central part of Downtown, I knew we had to be strategic about planning out the bride and groom photos and wedding party shots. It was PACKED you guys! Shayla and Josh were getting ready in their suites at the Westin, and I've never seen so many people compacted into one place, but it gave me so much adrenaline, because shooting downtown is the perfect way to showcase a New Year's Eve styled wedding. I planned out in my head that we would make pit stops from Pike Place down into Pioneer Square, where it tends to be a little more quiet - and I'm so thankful we did!

King Street Station was dead quiet. It was so nice to be able to take a breather and focus strictly on them without any distractions. The day called for rain, but it held out for us basically the entire time we were doing portrait shots! But oh man was it COLD. And of course, my bride - total bad ass by the way - completely rocked a sleeveless dress in the 33 degree weather. Thanks to Josh for cuddling her up and keeping her warm!

We finished with the bridal party shots at the Federal Building, and I was so excited we thought about this last minute. It's so clean, symmetrical and it wasn't busy at all. We got so many different city looks in just a few hours!

The ceremony and reception took place at the Palace Ballroom, and yes, you guessed right (Palace Kitchen did cater, omg it was so yummy!!) - The tones against the surfaced brick were amazing. The gold and mercury glass with the light blush pinks and champagne florals was so perfect for this evening. This was an indoor winter wedding done right!

Toasts were made, speeches were said and cake was cut - and the partying took place - and by that time Shayla had switched into the classiest Anthropologie jumpsuit so she could dance the night away with Josh and their close friends and family.

At midnight we all exited out onto the streets to watch the Seattle Space Needle fireworks with sparklers in hand. To say the least, it was a magical night for these two! Here are a few of my favorites of Shayla and Josh's downtown New Year's Eve wedding:
