West Seattle Lincoln Park Engagement | Seattle, Washington | Caitlin + Ted
Caitlin + Ted | Lincoln Park West Seattle, Washington Engagement Session
//
Every time a couple starts the engagement session off with “you’ll definitely have to tell us what to do, we are awkward AF.” I just smile and say OKAY. I don’t think a lot of people realize how natural they can be on the camera. And that is exactly how Caitlin and Ted were for their engagement session. The entire time I was capturing them, I kept making mental comments “sure sure sure, you’re super awk….NOT.”
It was SUCH a fun engagement session. They are so smitten with each other, it absolutely shows. I always tell my couples that a lot of the session, I have them intentionally focus on each other, and it always seems to relax the couple. Not only are you getting your engagement photos done, but you get to hang out with one another and make it a date.
I always like to make sure that I create a safe space for my couples to be themselves. I tell them it’s okay to speak up if there are certain things that you’ve seen on Instagram or Facebook that don’t represent who they are, and want to make sure their session speaks volumes of their identity - as a couple and as individuals. I have a lot of couples who are super cuddly and totally don’t mind some booty grabbin’ - then I have some couples who prefer to just hold hands and have more fun, quirky moments. Some couples love the edgy editorial vibes, and some want all their photos to be candid and full of laughter.
I want to reiterate that it is okay to communicate these things to the photographers you are inquiring with. It is OKAY to voice your wants and needs for your photos! These are about YOU, not about me. I want YOU to love your gallery and feel like I captured you at your very best.
Caitlin and Ted love to laugh, and they love to play - but damn she can put on a real “smize” for those editorial shots. I mixed it up for them and it was the PERFECT mix of moody and fun. Obsessed with this engagement session still to this day!
