This family is LITERALLY one of the cutest families I know, and this may be biased considering they are good friends of mine. My husband grew up with Drew since they are just a couple years older than their son’s current age! It really shows how quickly time can fly. They met as babies and now they their own babies.
I captured Dawson’s first days of life as well, so when they asked me to come back and do Emily’s newborn photos, it was the quickest yes I’ve ever set. While Dawson is a spitting image of Drew, Emily looks just like Melanie. This in home session was quite special, it really showcases the growth of a family in their family home. Dawson’s in home session, which fun fact: was one of my first in home sessions, was also in the same home they brought Emily too. This truly represents HOME.
I always grew up wishing I had grown up under the same roof for my entire childhood. Due to being a military child, I moved into a new home every two years and never truly felt like I had a space that I could really call my own. When Melanie said she wanted Emily’s in home session to take place at their home again it made my heart really full. They will have these memories as a growing family under the same roof. Not only do we change, but our homes change - there is either more memories on the wall, decor changes, new furniture, different pain - but same home. If that doesn’t make you a bit emotional, I don’t know what will.
Love this little family so much, and I DEFINITELY need to take a trip down to see how much little Em has grown since these photos were taken!
Enjoy a peek into Emily Rae’s first few days in this world.
