Ryker + Miriam | Maui, Hawaii
I started the 2016 wedding season with a bang. I knew this was going to be a big year of adventure, and I started it off right by heading to Maui, Hawaii with Miriam + Ryker to capture their beautiful and tropical wedding ceremony.
I was really excited for this opportunity, because it gave me the ability to think outside the box on how I wanted to capture them; style wise and location wise. The casual and light attire style was perfect for all the ideas that filled my mind. I had done some research prior to the wedding week on locations and what was popular to do in Hawaii. I wanted to do the exact opposite. It is my goal to capture my couples each in a different light, using their personalities and chemistry between one another as an inspiration. Ryker and Miriam are both intimate, passionate and loving people – so I wanted to create something for them that brought those characteristics out. I decided to split the our shooting time into two days. One day, to capture the small wedding on the rocky beach by the Lava Fields, another completely unique location to have a wedding rather than on the touristy, over saturated beach resorts. The next, we explored all over the island to get the full effect of being in Hawaii. We hit the beaches, the jungles, cliff sides, fields and even the rocky edges of the famous blowhole. The variety of spots was never ending. We spent an estimated 4 hours adventuring, playing and exploring the deepest parts of Maui. I am BEYOND excited for what I was able to capture, and I am even more excited to finally share this wonderful gallery with you all! The photos tell the story itself.
This was also the perfect start of my rebranding, and I'm really excited to showcase a little bit of my artistic goals. I want to stop posing, and I want to start playing with my couples. I don't want the same thing for each session, I strive for difference. And I'm hoping I reach my goals for the first wedding of the year! Enjoy!
